Welcome to Catholic Education Week throughout Ontario! This week we celebrate who we are as Catholic Schools, why we are as Catholic schools and how the triple connection of home, school and parish is an integral part of Catholic Education. We are distinct communities that welcome the Spirit of God. Let us be reminded that Catholic Education is much more than subjects taught and credits earned. It is about a vision for the world of wholeness and justice where all people are held in reverence.
Please try and attend our celebrations throughout the week, particularly our Open House and Barbeque, Thursday, May 5th, from 4:30pm -7:00pm.

A Moving Celebration on Holy Thursday
On Holy Thursday morning our students observed a reflection service on the Triduum. The objective of the service was to teach students about the symbols and rituals of the three most holy days in the Christian calendar and to motivate some to attend church services on Easter weekend. The student-led service under the direction of our Chaplain, Ms. Dougherty was amazing. Our students at all grade levels were engaged in this service which was filled with prayer, song and dance.Think FAST Held Friday April 29th - Saturday April 30th
Think Fast is a program designed to raise awareness about social justice issues and how we as Church can be agents of lasting change. Proceeds from the fast go directly to Development and Peace. D&P is the Social justice arm of the Canadian Catholic Church and is renowned for its partnerships within the global community. As a Catholic School community we strive to support your efforts to raise responsible, faith-filled children. We embrace our mandate with the fullness of our hearts and we believe that the youth in our care will become competent, effective and compassionate leaders in our world. We are proud of the success that your children have achieved at Mother Teresa. As we enter Catholic Education week let us remember to hold our community in your prayers, especially those who currently struggle with health matters.

Work Place Safety Week
Students from our board weathered high winds and rain at a very emotional Day Of Mourning Ceremony held on Thursday, April 28, 2011. Sarah Wilgress of Mother Teresa placed a rose on the memorial remembering the more than 1000 Canadians who died in workplace accidents this past year. Many labour representatives thanked our board and students for heightening safety awareness, and demonstrating such diverse initiatives to that end. One speaker commented that we are the only school board in Eastern Ontario that provides Passport To Safety Training. Others mentioned they wished all students in the province could benefit from this training and the kinds of initiatives that occurred at your schools this week. Many adults commented that it was touching to see such respect and empathy from our youth.Grade 7 & 8 Badminton Success
