Dear Parents/Guardians:
Yesterday we came together as a community to mourn the loss of our Grade 12 student, Christian Williams. Hundreds of students came to our school to utilize the support services that were put in place. We were so fortunate to have our Chaplain Donna Hughes, Father Steve Amesse (St. Patrick's Church, Fallowfield), Board Psychologist, Social Workers, Guidance Counselors, Teachers, Support Staff, School Resource Officers, and many Educational Professionals with us throughout the day to assist our students and parents in dealing with their grief. We created a beautiful memorial to Christian in our Chapel with many memories and written expressions shared among staff and students.
Our Chaplain, Donna Hughes called us together as a staff in the morning to start the day in prayer, followed by a beautiful prayer over our PA system. Our Grade 7&8 students spent their last day of classes continuing on with the wrap-up of the school year. I, our Vice-Principal Carrie Bowie, and our SRO Constable Sherry Jordan met with the Williams family in the afternoon at their home where I conferred Christian's Grade 12 Diploma and presented them with a framed graduation picture and his basketball jersey.
Although Christian will be buried in Nova Scotia, the family will be holding a wake at the Kelly Funeral Home on Carling Avenue on Friday, June 25th. Please see the following information for details. Thank you for your support through this difficult time.
Memorial Service and Wake for Christian Williams
A Memorial Service will be held for Christian Williams at Mother Teresa High School Cafetorium on Friday, June 25th, at 12 noon. Following our prayer service the Williams family will be holding a wake at the Kelly Funeral Home on Carling Avenue from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Family Trust has been established in Christian's name at the Scotiabank to assist the family with funeral costs. Donations can be made at any Scotiabank throughout the Ottawa area. The family would also gladly accept prepared food donations to be delivered to the Kelly Funeral Home on Carling Avenue if you would like to assist in this manner.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Norma McDonald
